Nope, you aren't heading in the wrong direction at all.........looks good. You made a smart decision having a pro do certain welds. I'm like you, I know my limitations and have no problem letting someone who knows how to do that weld something for me.
Glad to see you've made so much progress too, bet you are getting excited since it is starting to look like a car.

Yea I want to get part of the floor in so I can take the body off and get the sheetmetal done. I was trying to decide how to make a roof and I found an old Vespa front fender from 1963 that matches the rear corners perfect. Gonna order a new one and cut it in half!!!
I got all my engine parts now so I can't wait to get at that also.
