Ford small block altenator wiring
Hi guys,
First posting so be gentle... :-)
I've got a 289 small block in my Zodiac.
It originally came out of a cougar.
I'm in the process of doing a complete rewire because it used to be a drag car.
The problem I've got is with the altenator.
It doesn't look like any of the photos I have seen of the backs of Ford ones.
This has two tabs at the top, one large and one small and one small tab at the bottom.
I know little or nothing about automotive wiring, I'm learning as I go along...
So the questions are..
Does the small tab at the bottom go to ground?
Does the large one at the top go through the regulator?
Where does the other one go to?
When I had it wired up so that with the top ones the large one went to a battery feed and the small one went through the warning light, the light didn't come on when the ignition was live.
At that point the small one at the bottom was not connected to anything.
Hopefully this makes sense..
Thanks

Clear as mud just about sums up my knowledge of wiring.. :-)
I'm getting there though.
I'll pull the altenator and photograph it.
The most obvious thing I can say looking at the photos I have seen though is that all of them have lugs on them, whereas mine has spade terminals..
