    Header Coatings

Read a note from a header coater in IA (of all places) on another board.

Checked out their web site and decided to give them a try. I have used Air Born Coatings and HPC in the past (always with good results) but was im pressed with this company's guarentee.

In addition to a lifetime rust through guarentee, they will recoat anytime within three years if I'm unhappy with the product.

They received my headers on Friday Feb 22nd and they were back in my hands on Thursday the 28th!! Four days of that was UPS shipping!!

The headers look fantastic and the price was lower than the other guys.

If you're looking for Ceramic Coatings for headers I highly reccomend Cool Concepts Coatings. They do great work at a reasonable price.
Buying parts I don't need, with money I don't have, to impress people I don't like

Thank you. They seem to be reasonable and not far from home.

These guys are about 15 miles from me. They are a new shop and are trying hard to please their customers to build a good reputation. I've seen their work and it is very respectable. They are A LOT cheaper than the big established powder coating company in Cedar Rapids and their turn around is really quick.
    I would recommend them.

I have been running lake-style headers (from lakeheaders.com) on my sbc with a ceramic coating from Thermal Tech Coatings out of Hopewell, VA for about two years. Have been really satisfied. Their coatings come from CarChemistry out of TX.
Can't get my pics to load on this site, but there are a couple of pictures of the roadster with the headers at lakeheaders.com under Customer Cars and Chevy. It's the hot rod black '32 hi-boy with pin-stripped flames, Kelsey-Hayes wires, and tan top.

I've been running wrap-around stuff on my stock cast iron manifolds for about three years (stock Cadillac manifolds flow pretty good). It seems to work okay as far as holding in heat and, I guess, noise, but frankly it looks like crap.

I'd like for somebody using coatings to tell me if a quality coating will make an appreciable difference (I mean in other ways than ugliness).

    Thanks -

    Jim

E-mail Ken Mullinex@ ken@carchemistry.com and talk to him. Quite knowledgable and not pushy. These folks do a lot of stuff for bikes and racing vehicles.
