Gas Guage Sender Fuel Tank
I'm a "Newbie". I purchased a 70 Nova a year ago and with the help of several friends, we built a real nice car. I've replaced the gas tank, the sending unit and the gas gauge, yet my gas gauge will not work properly. The needle moves from dead to the E mark, but I have approximately 10-12 gallons of gas in an 18 gallon tank. I assume the needle should read at least 1/2 full. I also had dash light problems - which I solved by putting in bulbs that were missing which appears to have completed the circuit so the dash now lights. However, my gas gauge & turning signals will not light in the car, but they do blink.
Look forward to your help . . .

If all your wiring is correct, You mite have a fuel level sender that is sending a signal that your gauge cant read. Make sure your sender and gauge is compatible togeather.1941 Chevy Special deluxe

GM fuel senders read between 0 and 90ohms chrysler and ford I think read something like 100-150(?)... if you have the wrong sender the gauge will be wrong. For the turn signals and dash lighting, have you checked all the dash bulbs? You mentioned you replaced some missing bulbs but it sounds like the turn signal bulbs are burnt out or the wiring to the dash has problems.
Welcome to here and good luck...

The gauge, sender, and tank are all stock items for a 70 nova the problem has to be some where else, as far as the dash lights go I tested all the bulbs that were in there and they were ok. I simply added what was missing. Now my dash lights work but my blinker lights on the dash don't.

... do you have a good ground wire on the sender? As for turn lights, my best guess is problems in the wiring (short in the dash harness, bad dash ground, bad contacts with connector(s)) which could also cause your problems with the fuel gauge...
If you have a volt/ohm meter you can start by testing the continuity of the wires to the dash gauges, etc...

I have a neighbor coming over soon we'll be testing wires the next couple of hours. I wonder if I have a circuit board problem in the dash.

sounds like a ground problem in the dash..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

I think your turn signal problem is in the turn signal cam in the steering column.Ken Thomas
