    Hey Harmon,
    I pulled up a 56 Dodge pickup online last night and from the looks of those doors you probably have room to use the power bear claws if you want. The only difference between the power ones and regular is that they have attached a bracket with the actuator directly to the latch. If there isn't room you can easily remove the bracket from the latch and mount it elsewhere in the door and operate it with a cable or rod. I would suggest that you also buy a kit with a manual release cable or rig one up yourself just in case you're stuck sometime with a dead battery.
