    S-10 4x4 to 2x4

I have a question for you. My tranny 1st lost overdrive & then drive, I need to replace the tranny, But, I'm going to use the motor/tranny in my wifes '27 T, after we move. We are moving cross country and I need to drive the Blazer there.
My question is: What do I have to do, to put a 2 wheeldrive tranny in my '93 4x4 S-10 Blazer 4dr, and what cars can I get one that will work with a "93 (I called around and they told me it's a '93 & maybe '94 only)

Or! do I just get another '93-'94 4x4 tranny and change tail shaft & housing later, when I put it in the T.

    Thanks! Pat

what motor do you have in it. If it is the 4.3L then you should have no problem bolting up any 4l60e trans (or 700r4 if you don't want electronics). On the other hand, if you have the 2.8L i think the bell housing bolts are different from the standard bolt pattern so you'll have to find a trans off of a 2.8L.

As far as going from 4wd to 2wd, my buddy did the opposite swap and it worked fine for him. He has a 2wd s10 and found a 4l60e with a t case and bolted it up and so far he has had no problems. So i don't see why going from 4wd to 2wd wouldn't work out.

    Best of Luck!

    I don't believe I forgot to put that it's a 4.3!
I am going to keep the ecm, because it's a Vortec injection, thats why I need the a 4l60e. It runs great, but I'll still go thru it. I'm replacing the Buick V6 that was in it. I don't know if, or what to remove to make it work without a "E" tranny.
Did your buddy have to do anything to the tranny mount, or did he just buy a stock 4x4 mount & drive shaft. I'm thinking it's going to easier to use a 4x4 tranny. I don't have time to run around and find parts, I already have to get a tranny, and I need it done ASAP!!! I move on the 28 of this month.
    Tom F's can get me a tranny out of a 2x4 Blazer with a 4.3, but it's a '90, and it's not an 4l60e it's a 700r4 and a 4l60e is electronic shift, and I don't think the tranny mount & driveshaft will work. mine is a 4dr, I don't know what his is.

my buddy and i actually made a custom mount for the trans. The reason we did this was to fit his exaust, but i think if it were left alone it would have accepted that 4wd trans and t case just fine. Just to be on the safe side, i would do what you are saying, and just stick with a 4wd trans. ebay and craigslist are full of 4l60e's also car-parts.com is a great resource to find one.

    good luck with moving.

my 93 blazer had the vortec 4.3 in it with a 350 turbo behind it when the 4L went out...the trans has its own computer unless you just absolutely want to the 4L to go back in any small block chevy trans will go in if you decide do go on the 2wd path.

So what your saying is that I can unplug the tranny, and put in a 700r4 with out any mods (computor), and everything else will operate correctly. That would be great if I can. That just sounds to easy.

I have a 700r4 sitting here 3-4 yrs, I got it free, it was supposed to be a good one, just needs a dip stick tube. I'll have to open it and have a look see!

sorry for it takin so long to get back to this ive been pretty busy.My th350 only runs off vac,the manual kickdown went right on with no modding, the my CPI v6 was in it for 4 or 5 months with no problems.just the only diff is i think a 700r has a electric kick down, but you should just be able to change the connector on the factory trans harness.
