Ive got the next step up, Tender Plus, the 55.00 model. And they work good for tucking away a car for extended periods of time. No fuss just a fully charged battery every time.

not that brand name, but we use them on most everything.... the kit that you permanetntly wire into the car, then just plug it in when it's parked.... Even charges enough for the drag cars between rounds without having to run an alternator.....

Have several, they work great for infrequently used batteries.

Big in the marine and R.V industries for keeping batteries topped off while dormant. A lead acid battery dies approx 7-10 percent a month just sitting there, so if you can keep that internal loss from occurring it will also prolong the life of the battery.

The little jobs won't bring a dead one back up, but will keep a good one from discharging.

Thanks for the replies. Guess I'll get me one but I 'll probably modify the leads so that you can just plug it in like Dave was sayin'. My battery is not the easiest to get to.

Shouldn't have to, they already come with one unless they've changed recently.

I have an Everstart ( Wal Mart brand ) 2 amp trickle charger with automatic float mode.. 6v setting and a 12v setting... I'v left it on my '51 Chevy w/ 6 volt setting for the winter several times.. and it always cranks right up. it has a connector for 2 leads you hook right on the battery or 2 alligator clips

Those things work since they gently replenish the juice in your battery. If you let the battery run down then charge it and do this repeatedly it basically cooks the battery. They can only take so many charges like that really.

I bought a new Odessey 925T in Nov. of 06. It was supposed to be one of the best for high draw systems, like air ride. When I took the Willys out of storage 3 weeks ago it was dead, like 6.28 volts worth of dead. And I had a Wally world charger on it the whole time. I dug my warranty papers out and it is only good for 1 year. Never heard of a 1 year warranty on a battery before. I guess the el cheapo charger combined with the continuall draining from using the airide system took its toll. This time I just bought a 84 month wet cell from O'Reilys and ordered a name brand "Tender" for it. Oh, by the way, I took the stupid airride system off too. What a collosal waste of time that thing was.

Yeah - but it's the "IN" thing now. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't belong on a hot/street rod. Customs to drag indaweeds at a show, maybe

Well, I got the Battery Tender Jr. at Pep Boys and since my battery is buried I needed a place where I could just plug the charger in instead of hooking the clips to the battery terminals, so I modified the charger leads to add a power accessory plug that I can just plug into a power accessory receptacle (read cigarette lighter) It seems to work just fine.
