I beam axles
I have a question about '28 - '32 dropped I beam axles.
why is there 48" with 36 1/2 perch centers, and a 46" with 34" perch centers

The standard is the 48. The 46 allows you to lower a fendered car deeply and the tires fit up into the "pocket" of the fender rather than hitting on the outside of it. It is just a clearance thing. Not sure about the perch center thing, but the norm for a model A style spring is 34.

I understand that would be nice.
I quess what I meant to ask is it a factory thing, or is it only on aftermarket I beams & tube axles?

I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
