    Help with 33 DeSoto

I have recently picked up a 33 DeSoto coupe and need some help on a few points. I have been collecting parts and let me start off by listing them
The car is going to be 100% stock bodied. All the correct bumpers, lights, door handles, horns, etc. I have so far picked up:
    330 DeSoto hemi
    700r4
    c4 corvette front suspension
What I need help with is the overall theme, colors etc. The original wheels were wood. I would like to stick with the mopar theme there and run Dayton big spoke knock off wire wheels. I was thinking 17" in the front and 19" in the rear with 4 wheel shockwaves. Here is a stock coupe.

The chrome treatment will also be as stock. Here is a picture of a very nice stock convertible sedan.

The dash will also be stock with woodgrained dash and garnish moldings.

Shooting for a ride height similar to this 33 chrysler.

Any way any input would be appreciated.

Your choice of wheel sizes are too large and stylistically inconsistent with the style of the car. Since it looks so original, I would run 15 inch wheels all the way around to keep a more traditional look. I think the spoke wheel idea is great. If you must run larger wheel size to get the kind of wheel you want, do not go more than 17 inch or it will look odd. Contact Chassis Engineering and see if they have a conversion that will adapt the Corvette suspension. If not, I would opt for a Superide front suspension from Heidt. You will get the drop you need so the car conforms to the ride height you are looking for.

Well the corvette has 12.5 inch rotors so 17 is the smallest size I can go. And since I like the big and little look I would do at least 18 in the rear but not bigger than 19.I am guessing those are about the sizes of the wheels on the chrysler in the picture. Here is a picture of the same coupe with more of a traditional look. Oh and the original wheels were a 16. I also forgot to mention I have a jag for the rear end. Thanks for the input.

I would recommend taking a side shot photo and take it into Photoshop and test the larger wheel sizes to see if you like it. That way, you will know for sure. I am not fond of the 19 inch and bigger rims, so I am a little prejudiced. I do like the look of those wheels on the Chrysler at present, but since it is not finished, I have to reserve final judgement.
