37 Dodge Frame
I need help. i've been around street rods all my life and i've never been around when anyone has done any frame work. i'm putting a 440/727 in this 37 dodge 4 door sedan. i need to cut the X out of the frame so the trany will fit. i have the motor and trany hanging where it will go and i can see where to cut the frame i just don't know where to put new metal first so the frame won't get out of shape or if it even will. ANY HELP would be great. Thanks. Dennis
never mind i found a guy thats buildt one and looked at his. Thanks anyhowLast edited by mud puppy; 04-24-2008 at 08:45 AM.

You know, the reason I will never bother to waste time with another 70 year old chassis is the pure fear factor of all those ceaky old components made for 80 HP and a lot less weight. Sooner or later something is going to let go and you hope you ain't booking along on the freeway when it does.
You'd be SO much safer looking for the appropriate sized modern aftrermarket chassis with independent suspension and an integrated disc brake system and not some cobbled up add on thing. Yeah I know it costs money but by the time you address all the components in the chassis you're already there money wise.
Think about it.There is no substitute for cubic inches

Dam dude, the tranny would be the least of my worries, where's the exhaust going and will the hood sides still fit? My 727 went in no problem, even with a 360 it's tight in there. Post some pix, I'd like to check it out!

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
