Really? I'm not being sarcastic but I seriously thought those were the best engines ever. I know several of them that went well over 200,000 miles with very little maintenance. I thought the 5.7 Tuned Port thing was like a orphaned child, not much support for them anymore.

TBIs are ok. Good reliable fuel injection as long as you’re not making over 350 hp. Easy to program.

Got the motor dropped in; hopefully I can get everything bolted up this week and maybe do a test run next weekend.

I’ll be thrilled if it will make it down the street and back at this point

Once again, it's back in service. Seems to run pretty good and no issues as of yet. I hope I'm saying the same thing a month from now !

    Yeah what he said

Funny thing too......the SBC route was deemed so "cookie cutter" for a lot of years a lot of guys cringed when someone was building a project and decided to go that route. With all the LS swaps, I suspect in a few years seeing cars with a 1st Gen SBC will make the old guys like me feel nostalgic.

Very true, Mike. If I could go back to the beginning I would have either left the flathead or went with a different Mopar engine. This was the easiest and cheapest fix for where I was at; lesson learned for sure.

One thing for sure, even a lower HP engine is a lot of fun with 4:11 gears and a four speed.

Very nice work! You should be able to sell all the LS stuff pretty easily though. Plenty of people buying that stuff. Haha

Actually I made enough selling all the LS stuff to buy this engine.

Finished up my console; had to lose the cup holders to make room for the shifter.

That looks great! Maybe you can make another little box in between the seats and put your cup holders there?
