Any disadvantage to putting MSD Box in trunk???
Hello Everyone, I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day! I was wondering if there was any disadvantage to putting my MSD Ignition Control Box in the trunk??? Actually the MSD instructions say to put the box as close to the battery as you can & my battery is going in the trunk. There are a couple of wires coming out of the box that I will have to extent to make it to the engine from the trunk. Should I use a bigger size wire to compensate for the increased distance??? I'm also trying to clean up under the dash a little..... thanks Bill

I'd use at least one size larger wires. The long trigger wires probably should be a bit larger too even though they don't carry a lot of power. Be sure to twist them to prevent RF interference.
I mounted my coil and ign box on the inside of the firewall and used one of the high tension pass throughs from MSD. Seems to work great.41 Willys 350 sbc 6-71 blower t350, 9in, 4 link

Mounted mine in the battery compartment of the Vette and ran the wires with the positive wire. No problems.Got Guts - Get Graphics
