    Head question for 428CJ motor

Well I think I have finally found a nice clean ready to go CJ and wonder what heads are the best performance without spending 3k. Still has the 1UB crank and i figure I will leave it alone. Also rebuilding my rearend and wonder with that motor and a Tremec 5-speed what would be a good gear ratio to get you out of the hole quick while not losing the all important 5th highway gear??? Also bolting up a nice 67 alum dual duad intake would burn a bit more fuel but it would be really pretty sitting on top.

If the CJ still has the C8OE-6090-N heads use em. Same with the C8OE-9425-C intake. It's iron and heavy and all but a great stock piece. Edelbrock heads are pretty much the aftermarket standard of choice. Buy the 428 heads with the 72 cc chambers. These have the 16 bolt exhaust holes if your running the stock CJ ex mani's. The Edel 427 heads are 76cc's and only have the 8 bolt exhaust. You can do a quick port match and have a nice set of heads. Also buy them bare and get your own valves, springs etc.....to match your cam. I suggest the ARP rocker studs vs the stock bolts. Blue Thunder makes a nice copy of the 4V PI intake and the 2x4 MR. Which Tremec is in there? If it's a 500-600 those are rated at 500 ft lbs and 600 ft lbs torque. What rear is in the car now? 8" or 9"? Open or locker?

I have found a reliable source for a clean rebuilt 69 CJ and I assume after my research and your tech talk the direct bolt on edelbrock alum's will be a good fit. I have a 9" with 373's which should be good enough to get me down the road. Why does the economy have to slow when I'm ready to buy all this cheaply priced FE stuff.
