Unless you want to shift it yourself.. you could start out with a Lokar floor shifter, then get the 4spd shifter that you want, mod and use it's arm in the lokar shifter.. hide it under a Hurst 4spd shift boot.. noone will know unless they watch you shift it
You don't know what you've got til it's gone

    Exactly! WHY?

If you need to shift - then install a manual.

When I was a young punk - loved to rip through the gears but with age came the realization that an automatic makes driving while holding your beer easier!

But honestly I think an automatic on the column - is still better than anything "fake".

That looks like a possible solution...will have to investigate further. I'd really like a "double bend" shift rod (least that's what I've seen on bench seat cars) but that shift rod doesnt have the safety stuff running down the center.

That's where the problem is. The lokar auto sticks all have this button in the shift knob for the lockout features. I assume there is a cable or something that runs down the tube where as the standard shift levers are solid.

And to those asking "why?"......I say "why not?".....I dont want to buy/change the column...I dont want to pull the tranny and install a REAL four speed, and currently, I dont like the looks of my floor shifter. It's fairly simple really...

I think Hurst/Mr. gasket used to have shifters that looked similar to a 4 speed. I can see you wanting a shifter without a button. I don't understand fake stuff tho. That was more what I saw in the topic. Kinda like the Olds valve covers on a chevy thing.

i'm building this car for a customer. but the main reason is looks. the auto console in 66 was butt ugly so i'm going to use the 4 speed console which looks better. the owner wants a 60's hotrod look . the mr gasket is a cable shifter and mounts to the floor.

Get the lokar shifter with the single bend, then add a 4spd knob, and hide it under a Hurst shift boot. it won't look exactly correct, but it will look close.
