    Upholstery Paint?

I am thinking of changing the color of part of my door panels, by using one of those upholstery spray paints.
Does any one know if one brand is better than the others? And how well do they all work?
    Can areas be masked off?

Any experienced info is greatly appreciated!

I used some years ago to change the color on a set of buckets. The results were so-so. The material absolutely has to be clean.

I've used it on seats too. Did eventually rub off some. Door panels would be ideal.
Got mine from Manny, Moe and Jack.

There used to be a product around called Mar-Hyde that worked well, not sure if they're around yet.

Check out the "interiors" section of www.hotrodders.com for some articles such as this one... http://www.nastyz28.com/2gcog/tech/intpaint.html
There may be some helpful info there. Good luck.

I will look for the SEM paint since it is most reccomended, but if not available will try the Duplicolor brand!

I hate to mail order anymore since postage has gotten out of hand - I hate paying more for shipping and handling than I do for the darn product!

I hear ya but with gas at $4.50+/- per gallon by the time spend your time and money driving around looking for the stuff you could have easily paid for the postage. I say suck it up and get the good stuff if you want it to last.....

I've used the Duplicolor spray can upholstery paint, but as Barb said, it can rub off. I did a boat with it, and suntan lotion would soften it and remove it. I also did the interior of a Cadillac I had and had some disasterous results, but at least have a funny story to remember it by.

I did the caddy and shortly after that my Boss flew into town to make sales calls with me. He had a light colored suit on, almost white, and I had done the interior in black. After driving around all day, when he got out at the airport and was walking away from the car I noticed his entire backside from neck to knees was black!! I never used another can of that d*** stuff ever again.

3-m adhesive cleaner first to get all of the grease and crap off then Sems paint. will eventually bub off in places of high traffic perhaps but hey it's cheaper than getting the door recovered right !
