If I am not mistaken, you can buy a used Pantera for about 35,000. It would take about 50,000 to fix this thing, nothing but a warped damaged shell with bullet holes in it. The auction ends in 2 days 11 hours, I will posty if it sells or not.

I lived in Defiance Ohio, that is where the factory was where they built these. I was told by a tuner at a roadside, they put 500 miles on each car to break in and fine tune before they were sold. These cars were seen all over town and surrounding county roads all the time, Driven by the tuners tweeking them in.

I have to agree that the cost to replace exceeds the value of this car....However, the factory that built these cars was not located in Defiance Ohio, but Italy by De Tomaso, shipped to the US as completed cars and sold by select Lincoln Mercury dealers..................

Geez Bill, does this mean I shouldn't clean a spot in the shop to get working on it...?????? I sure was eager for the car (and that great big check) to arrive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I seriously think it would be great for a rat rod project. 5000 sounds steep when you look on ebay and see what drivable ones are going for. Where I grew up, there was a pink one that ran around town. We'd see it only occassionally, but what a beautiful ride. If the skin is usable, it could be dropped on an s10 frame, have a big block dropped in it, with straight header pipes too! We could start a new trend, and do a de lorean next!

Not to burst your bubble, but the Pantera is a mid engined, rear transaxle driven drivetrain. To attempt to fit an engine in the bonnet (front trunk area) would be a feat not likely to succeed .................
