I posted on your other thread, but just noticed these pictures. Boy, do I ENVY you and your Wife.................this thing is very cool. I think I see the gap you are talking about in the picture. Do the careful measuring I described, and see how the right compares to the left. I bet when the floor and all was cut out it was welded up without being properly jigged up. Quite a bit was removed from the car, it looks like in the pictures, and the misalignment may have occurred then.

As for the rust removal, a great car like this deserves the best..........I would have it media blasted again and etch prime it right away.

You have a really nice piece of real steel there, It’s a shame your father in- law didn’t get to see it finished but you and your wife can finish his dream. Maybe you could put in honor of your Father in-law with his name someplace on the car. Most guys only dream of a real steel car like that. If money was available the car should be finished the best you can make it, that is a very valuable car not only for it’s sentimental reason but to pass down to your kids if you have or plan to have kids.

You have an extremely valuable all steel 41 Willys. By all means do it right. What is your goal? Gasser or streetrod?
Do you want creature comforts PS, PB, A/C or the drag strip performance look?
what every you want in the end do it right in the beggining.

We plan to make it a street rod like he would have wanted. The car will absoloutly be honored in his name. We hope to be able to put it togeather using the best parts paint ect but because it is expensive it will take some time. My wife and I want to stay away from making it too modern and custom looking. We would like to use the original door handles, chrome window trim , original glass and trunk handle. We have these parts they just arent on the car. Someone has cut the inside of the original doors out and has tack welded in parts from a more modern that has power windows. I'm removing these and going back to original. No ac. It does have power stering to be put in and has four wheel disk brakes already.. Has a big block 454 that has everything to put it togeather. Just need to find the crank and flywheel that are out at a balancing shop in california somewhere....

Nice project - I hope that you start a long term thread on the build.

I do believe that I would even trade my '31 A project for that car (tho, for sure, I'd be single again )
