I agree on a couple points.
Some things Seem to work better on one car than another.
I personally think the marblized parts will look good. If you are worried, try that test panel idea, with the red...and the wood. That way you can get them inside the car to see if you like it. If you are worried, go conservative, and do it over a black base to match the interior.
I have a theory.....too many of them actually.....but if people ask "why?", you messed up badly in your planning stage. :-( Ideally you want them to say "that is perfect!"
I have a good story about "building for yourself". I did a theme-scheme on a late model Vette. (It's in my picture gal;lery) The owner wanted pirate skulls, so I did the right thing and told him he was ruining the resale value of the car. He didn't care, so we went ahead with it. Last Saturday he told me he now has won 17 show trophies in the last couple years....many for best paint. He is thrilled! I asked him if anyone offered to buy the car? He said "No....but it isn't for sale anyway!" This story doesn't prove anything, but I thought it was a good story. LOL! :-)!
Actually many people I meet have resale value in mind as they are building. Financially smart....but not nearly as much fun. One thing I believe in is to use "value colors or themes" when building, and people will see it as being more special. That helps a lot when people are admiring your project...or they are writing that check.

The whole top of my dragster was marbleized, from nose to cage. It is a really neat and uncommon paint scheme to see.
Sorry I could not resist the Hooters picture.

The picture makes it almost look like snake skin. Is that an accurate description?
Maybe skin is a "Freudian" thing the mind does from looking at the last picture too long.

I finally got the marbleizing done to Shirley's dash parts.
What do you think?
By the way did you know that HOK is discontinuing its urethane line. Kosmos Red and Brilliant White are now hard to find.

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
