56 ford Panel
Hey fellas picked up a 1990 Lincoln with a 5.0 HO. Want to pull the running gear and install it in my 56 ford panel. How much wiring and smog can we strip off the engine and still use the stock engine control module or do we have to go aftermarket. thx

I've done a few similar swaps, and found there are really two options, 1. Keep all the factory equipment on the engine, or 2. get with one of the companies who modify and or build new harnesses for the 5.0's and use their products and advice. I had a link for the guy's harness I've used before, it was a modified OEM harness. Unfortunately when my old computer locked up the information stayed there..... If you can't find the information you need, let me know and I'll do some research and try to find it again, might have the invoice around yet, not sure.... At one time, I might have forwarded it to a couple of the Ford guys here, maybe one of them still has it?????
Love them old panels!!!!!! How about some in-progress pics as you go so the rest of us can all be jealous??????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

The only problem is when you strip emissions contorls off the engine you will not have the engine running properly ,it may even run in a limp mode and open loop all the time take the egr off and the car may ping, etc, the ecu is programmed for these items, there are things like the "tweecer" out there which I use on my 1992 mustang which you can use your laptop to rewrite the program to the ecu then you can eliminate what you want , and adjust a ton of other things, you can see these at tweecer.com, and some other programs I use with my tweecer are Binary Editor and EEC analyzer. (eecanalyzer.net) you can down load the programs and look at them but can't use them till registered
