    Garage workshop

I have rented houses over the years and have always had my tools stored in cardboard boxes. Well, I built a house (finally) and have been outfitting my garage with scraps from the house built. The whole cost so far has been under 1000 dollars. I have bought folding closet doors for 5.00 a pair at garage sales. Hinges and drawer guides for the cabinets came from garage sales as well. The cabinets were easy to build and very adaptable. I have 3 roll around work stations- 1 for welding, 1 for tool holding, and 1 for parts storage. There is also a tool crib for my power tools, a tool cabinet for my woodworking tools, and a cabinet for all my automotive supplies ( paint, cleaners, anti freeze, wax, battery charger, jacks, stands). Now it seems I need a bigger garage for all the things I find myself building. If anyone is interested in some of the plan ideas, I would be willing to share.

Pictures of my garage are in my photo files

LOL You know I've heard of a lot of garages that were too small (even had a couple) but have never heard anyone say they had one that was too big.
I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

Must be some kind of scientific phenomenom or something, but it seems no matter what size garage or shop a guy builds, within 2 months of completion it shrinks and becomes smaller then one originally intended.... Maybe some of the more scientific minded types on CHR will comment and let us all know how this happens??????

Dave - I believe it is in fact the "completion backwards principle." It is scientific fact that if you build it they will come!
My garage, 9 years in waiting, was restricted in size by the city because of the historic district we live in.
Side kick you garage and storage looks great, not to mention the car in progress that looks like a McClearan? My shop started as a wood shop and it was immediately too small for that. Add one ford truck and Harley , plus body parts, engine, tranny and storage stuff....and soon you will be tripping over stuff!
Then show it to your wife and filling it will be no problem!

The car is a GT40 clone- I am totally rebuilding it with a 33.8 liter GM fi FWD engine mounted midships.

I lowered it, widened it and am making a totally electronic interior with led lit dash and disappearing guages. A winters worth of work.

It's amazing how garages work. I had a 24 x 24 at my old house that was full. When I moved I built a 30 x 40, moved all the stuff in from my old garage, and guess what? It was full again! Go figure....

I just added a 6x12 storage room to the garage and it is already full. Man, now what? I don't want to give up any of my stuff.
