Manual vs. booster assisted brakes
I have a 31 Ford with drum brakes all the way around, disc brakes will come later to the front. The car has a single bowl master cylinder that I'm getting ready to change out. I'm struggling with deciding on whether to mount under the floorboard a dual master cylinder with a 7" booster or just add a dual master cylinder with residual valves, no booster. I'm looking for some opinions on which way to go.

Disc brakes and drum brakes on the front require different master cylinders and distribution blocks.... Might want to do everything at once, or you'll end up buying 2 master cylindersYesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Honestly, you don't need a booster in a V8 powered Model A because of the weight of the car. But I would get a manual master for a disc/drum system and change the front at the same time.

I thought disc brakes required a brake booster. When I converted my fronts to disc, the instructions said my setup required a brake booster for the for the front discs. I guess I assumed that was universal for all disc brakes to get enough squeese out of the calipers. Also have the proportioning valve set up.
Seems to me, if your going to convert to front discs, to save some cash and get the right setup now, unless it's going to be a long while before the switch." "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
