T56 speedometer
I am putting a Stewart warner wings speedometer (Electric) in and would like to know if I can hook right into the existing speedo sensor. I tried to get an answer for S/W tech but that was as useless as tits on a bull.
Thanks

I don't know much about them but I know my son used his laptop to dial in the speedometer to match his new tires. (T56 in a '95 Camaro). So, I assume it's tied into the cars computer. (not directly connected to the trans.). What car are you installing it in?"PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

The T56 (stock sendor) has a 17 pulse per driveshaft revolution VSS signal generator incorporated into it. This has to get converted to a 2000 or 4000 pulse per mile signal for your VSS input to the Speedo (likely). There is a conversion box from Dakota Digital that does signal recalibration that converts it to match your speedo. It will also let you know via the LED's if you are getting a signal from the T56. Hope this helps...

The SW speedo is dip switch configurable for counting pulses but it is limited. Instructions have the setting set-up. The above mentioned box will allow you to zero it in if your set-up is outside the speedo's capability ..............
