Well it has been a while, floor is in, leaded in the joints, looks good. Waiting on my steering column to get here this week, I dont think it is going to be that bad, then its on to the brakes... God I hope the brakes go half way smooth. If I can get them done with out pulling all my hair out the rest of this is going to be down hill. Took the rad to a shop today to get it rodded and have a flow test done to see if it will be usable to cool the 350. If not Ill throw it on Ebay and get some good cash for it. Installed the rear end, new brakes, E-brake cables and a 3.55 set of gears.
This is my nine month old Preston, it will be his someday after he wrecks somthing a little cheaper first!

I'm no Dakota expert, but I believe 91 was the first year the 318 was offered and 91's have a weird 6 lug bolt pattern. I know this because I have one.Ken Thomas

Yep, my research says that the 318 was used from '91 to '99 and the 360 was used '98 to '03. The '97-up Gen II uses a wider track though and I don't think if would look as nice as the Gen I on the old International. I couldn't find the front and rear track for the International, but I'm guessing that the Gen I Dakota would be a close match. If it turned out a little wide or a little narrow, wheels with a different backset could be used to match up to the International track a little closer and position the tires in the wheelwells width-wise a little better.

Always thought one of those cute little Dakota 2WD extended cab pickups would make a good home for either a 440 six pack or a 413 Max Wedge!!!Maybe even a hemi, but then I sure wouldn't want to overpower the thing!!!!

A problem that I see is the placement of the stock gas tank. It takes up a lot of space on the left hand side and the exhaust is run on the right hand side of the truck. Mine in stock form has a 22 gallon tank and a single cat and it's pretty crowded between the frame rails.Ken Thomas

July 27th was the last update I had posted on this marathon. I recently hit a hotllick on the IH, my biggest hang up had been the front windshield frame. I was driving home couple months ago, and noticed what I thought to be a IH cab with glass and frame sitting in a neighbors driveway. I did as any gear head would do, I stoped and spent about 3 hrs making friends. This guy has a beautiful 38 ford 2 door he was was squeezing a new Hemi down in. Anyway he took a saturday and helped me rebuild the frame. He is a local welding teacher, and taught me some very good techniques with the welder. The window frame is ready for paint and glass, still have to order some seals, but thats the easy part. I have finally started doing the body work with only a few months till we up and move to either SC or VA, so God only knows when we will find a house, get moved in, AND we have another addition to the family on the way, this time a Girl only to further throw off the powers within my domain... However I will be happy no matter what! I will post some pics this weekend, hope everyone has been doing well.

So it has been a minute since my last post. Well in the past year we moved across the country and had another young one! I am now stationed in VA and the humidity is killing me and my truck. All the parts that i had media blasted in utah that has 5% humidity are all going to be re done. I have been plugging away at the truck slowly, its hard with two young ones, not wanting to steal time from them but yet trying to get a good balance with everything. Shannon (Wife) got me a nice 60 gal 220 3 phase air compressor for fathers day and I just bought a sandblaster last week. Well, let me just say its amazing how nice it is when you have an air compressor that will push enough air to do the job your trying to do! I will post some pictures of progress as it comes along. I sold one of my four wheelers to fund the rest of my parts needed to finsh the build up minus wheels and paint. I have a pile of door window seals, hood cowl seals, dynomat, emerganecy brake kit, exhuast system, windsheild wiper kit, smoked glass and a wood bed kit just waiting for me to have the time to do it all. I have thought about sending the wife, mother inlaw and kids on a vacation for a week and I stay home on my own vacation! Hope all is well with all that have given advice and help during this build.
Ditto on the model kits! My best were lost when the Hobby Shop burned under suspicious circumstances....
