radiator fan??
ok i have a 76 ford highboy with a gutless 360 stock motor in it, i will be dropping a 390 into it soon. i have an after market aluminum radiator in it right now... im wanting to pull the fixed fan off the water pump and go electric. im not worried about how many inches acrossed the fan needs to be right now cause i can deal with that later. im more worried about the cfm's. its just to keep my truck cooler in stop and go traffic and while idling. i will how ever put a remote bypass switch in the cab to control it just as they do in semi tractors.. any advise or input would be highly helpful i was told by one person that i need a 3300cfm fan...

As long as you go with a quality fan like a SPAL you will be fine, their CFM ratings are not inflated like the cheapos. Put a shroud on too, makes a huge difference.

Follow the link , its a fan set up on my sub. I have heard that Taurus fans ,which are a single fan, will pull around 3300-3500 CFM. The dual fans I have set up cool real quick, they have never seemed to runlonger then a minute. Probably can save a few bucks but I worked with top quality wire and connectors.

First thing you need to understand is that nearly ALL electric fan manufacturers exaggerate their CFM statements by some degree. That being said as Itoldyouso has stated SPAL makes a excellent unit which will meet your needs. Another excellent product is made by Cooling Components Inc (who happen to be owned by Walker Radiator).
If you really want exceptional cooling, don't forget to add a shroud. Buy one or make your own, what matters is that you use one.Bob

If its good for factory it good enough for me. A fan set up from the leaders in after market was going to cost me 450-500 dollars. This set up cost me less than half that and has a stock look.Friends dont let friends drive fords!

A lot of streetrod/hotrod parts dealers sell SPAL and also Cooling Components Inc.. Walker Radiator sells CCI. Also direct from CCI at http://www.coolingcomponentsinc.us.com/ and Yogi's has both brands at http://www.yogisinc.com/
Your local streetrod shops should either have one or the other or be able to order them for you. Do an internet search on their names and you will probably find them and they can usually tell you who their distributors or sellers are. SPAL fans are widely sold.Bob

Mine are from a LS1 engine. 60bucks from the local yard or about 70 from e-bay , shipped. Search that site I listed for elect. fans and you should find the postings on the Taurus fans its a single unit but with high CFMs.Friends dont let friends drive fords!
