Question building a ford 8 inch equal lok

I have recently obtained an 8 inch ford equal lok for my 289 66 mustang. To my ignorance, I believed it was a newer traction lock with the 4 tab clutch pack in it. It is an older 5 tab clutch pack differential which is not as strong as the newer ones due to spring clutch pack load design. Any one have any building tips on to make it stronger and hook up better?

Umm, have you thought about putting in a new Bellville spring and an extra shim? How are the frictions?
