    My key won't turn

Hello yet again older crowd! hahahaha! I could use some more guidence. I was working on my 84 z28 earlier and my ignition switch seems to be stuck. It will not turn and the key will not come out. I bought the car with no drivetrain in it. It was origionally an auto car, but I got a steal on a t5 and everything needed to convert it to a manual. Well, the drivetrain is in and looking great. I just dont know what I did to the column. The switch worked fine until I began working on the car, "figures".
    Any Theories?

give the steering wheel a good jerk in both directions (left and right) while you try to turn the key to "off"

It was an automatic trans??? There is a lockout cable running from where the auto shifter used to be up to the column......

I thought about that, but cannot see where that cable used to go. I tried dropping the column and looking but still couldnt see. Would it be better to pull the column out?

Been awhile since I took the stock column out of mine, guess I don't rememver where it hooked up....just that it locked out the switch unless the shifter was in park.... Sorry Josh, with my feeble memory it's the best I can do!!!!!!

Maybe a little Google search would show you where it hooks up????

Well, that makes sense. I don't think the shifter was in park when I pulled it out. I'll go have a look at it a little later. Yesterday I just had to walk away from it. You know how easy it is to get discouraged over a little bump in the road. Thanks for your time and interest Dave.

Yer welcome, Josh. Maybe there's a bracket and some linkage going to the key cylinder that the cable connects to???? Like I said, been awhile.......
