    restoring pot metal for chrome

I am going to try some powder coat chrome with a clear powder coat over the chrome layer, it is "suppose" to be 95% as reflective as actual dip. So Im going to try it out before I send off my 6 emblems and drop a quoted 600 bucks. Ill post some before and after pictures, but I was wondering if anyone has tried to fill pot metal pits, and if so what did you use? I was going to try lead but before I did I figured I would ask if anyone has tried this before and make sure it does not booger it up, and if not lead what works the best. I dont have high expectations for the powdercoat to make me happy, but I already have everything so for 28 bucks I figured I would give it the old college try and hope that it suprises me Thanks!

i done parts were i drum sanded them and sand blasted the pitts after sanding stay way with the blaster you just want to clean the pitts out then used body filler and paint the parts .die cast as very hard to do much with welding or filling by heat

yep that stuff could work as long as there no fine lines like a emblems would have .i had some rod that crown rod made was very tricky to weld and hope i think it was kirker rod. with pot metal it is full of junk you have two wipe out the junk out that floats out and you get gas out to . i think the muggy rod is a lower heat that stops some of this ? and all chrome has to be off the part.if you plate it they can be filled with copper and blocked out as getting plated but .some of the fine lines if any can be removed over working the parts .pot metal is a $itch
