    got my 390

so i blew my 360 at the beginning of june... i dropped a 390 from a 63 galaxie into my truck... the motor was barn fresh for about three years... the engine hasnt ran right since ive dropped it in... ive had to replace the head due to 3 burnt exhaust valves and one cracked intake... now my cam went flat... what would be stock specs for the oem cam shaft?? would they be along the lines of 0.280 intake and 0.295 exhaust?? i want to go to a bigger cam like an rv cam but not sure how big i can go before i have to start doing head, intake and exhaust work.... as long as i stay around the fuel mileage that i should be getting, ill be happy... the truck is a daily driver and will be getting new hydraulic lifters and push rods..... so i dont want to go over board with things

    FE fix

Crower has some real good mileage and torque cams available, remember the FE Fords in the 60's did not have hardened valve seats to run unleaded so you need to have that done when you upgrade those heads.

well i had to replace the passengerside head do to my intake valve being cracked in 3 spots and all the exhaust valves being burnt... the cam just went out about two hours before i went to replace the head... the driver side has checked out good so far for compression.... my truck is the 3rd known body for that engine.... and i know that the head that was on it has been gone through at least once due to different valve base castings.... but i figured for a rv2 cam with pushrods and hydro lifters for around 156 wasnt bad.. so i have to hope my motor will last to next wknd....
