Hey HWORRELL; I'm not sure if it has to be synced or not I was told to disconnect the battery first then replace the cam sensor, which I did.
But this did not shut off the service light, so I went back to Auto Zone to have them check the codes and shut off the service light. They checked the codes which did not reset from disconnecting the battery.
Auto Zone refused to reset the light or code saying it was illegal for them to do so.
Even after I bought the cam sensor from them to fix the problem.
After driving it for a couple days like this with the service light on and the code not removed, the car would just shut down with no warning.
So now I headed to my buddy Bob’s who has been a mechanic his whole life and is now about 76 years old and retired. He pulls out I believe a BDII scanner and code reader then hooks it up.
Within 5 minutes the code is reset and the service light is out, he leaves it connected and we go inside to talk for awhile in the A/C. After about 30 minutes of the car running with the scanner still hooked up we come back out and check it, No codes no service light.
No problems since and no service light on the dash.

Actually it synchronize ever time you start the engine. Have you ever notice that the engine turns over a few more revolutions than your old stock 69 camaro , will thats the cam and crank sensors synchronizing . you do need to clear codesSometime Kool is the Rule But Bad is Bad

sg4356; It does not seem to turn over alot it usually starts right up.
Maybe because it is so quite that it just seems to start right up.
The one thing I did notice before I changed the cam sensor was
a connecting rod knock at start ups. And I was thinking great I'l
have to rebuild this thing in a couple more years. But after the
cam sensor replacement, no more rod knock. Sounds good on
the start ups now. Kurt

You are correct Mr. Moter. They came out with a piston for this and we was installing them but when the coating wore off slap came back. From what I could tell the skirt was to shortSometime Kool is the Rule But Bad is Bad

Ok Piston slap then, but I have not heard it since I replaced the cam sensor.
Shouldn't there be a recall or some thing on it, so I can have my engine rebuilt for free.

It couldn't be because they are getting ready to go belly up before any recalls.
Oh thats right all of us tax payers had to bail thier sorry buts out.
I don't care if they do go out of business, I would just drop a ford engine in it.
Like we don't pay enough for them the first time, now they take payments out of our taxes. Now we have to pay the employee's of a failing company, because they don't know how to manage thier budget. I wonder if we had our own business's and couldn't make a go of it, if they would give us a couple billion to keep our doors open.
Sorry I didn't mean to open that box of worms. Kurt

did you know that the government is going to tax you on any warranty or recall work done as they see it as income??
-

No I had not heard that but, it would not suprise me.
They want to make us pay for the same thing over and over.
I don't even want to get started on this stuff.
They tax us again and again on the same stuff, then go out and pay a contractor
12,000 for one little bolt that they could have bought at lowes for 25 cents.
That's our government hard at work with our money. Kurt

Stupid dash light came on again today.
I guess I will head over to my buddies and see if he can check the code out tomarrow.
At least I know it can't be the cam sensor, It may just be doing that because it's about
due on the 100,000 mile tune up.

I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
