    engine work

I have decided to swap the 350 for the 305 in my 87 TA, I dropped a piston and need to replace it, cause the skirt chipped about an inch off. I also need to know exactly how important it is to keep the valves, lifters, rods, pistons, and bearings installed in the same order or place where they came. I have lost track of the sequence, my garage is a total mess, and this is my first engine teardown. ANy help would be appreciated....MAHALO!!!!

I tore the 350 down when i first got the car. BUt the TA had a 305 in it. I didnt know if it was any good though. I had decided to patch up the 305 in the car and got it goin for a minute. Theres a Blown head gasket on the driver side and the coolant was mixing with oil, not in the cylinder though which was a good thing. Now I have it down to the block, since the previous owner intended to slap the 350, with the torkerII intake in it, I will just do that instead. But, what I meant to ask was can you replace just one piston? also, all the other parts that I should have numbered are mixed up, I am trying to do this superfast,(deploying April 10 for a year) thats what I was trying to say....sorry bout that

My advice would be just to buy a long block, probly be cheaper and quiker. They only run for about $1300 canadian (not list price, @ shop cost), but depending on your finacial situation? if you are anything like me, everything is expensive. lol

    Keep it shiny side up!
I've got the itch to lay some rubber down!!! ~Thanks grampa! its been 10 years worth of work, I just wish you could see it~
