Why cant part numbers be stamped on the part
I am trying to find a adjustable vacumn advance for a Ford duraspark distributor and some replacements are adjustable,I just happen to have another distributor that does have a adjustable vacumn advance but I did not see a part number stamped on it. I wish every part had the number stamped on it so it can be identified and my trip to autozone with part numbers from the Wells catalog was not sucsessfull due to the system not being able to cross reference or the person not knowing how. I will probably rod the part from the other distributor but I will need to replace it when i work on that project.

Yeah, or sometimes they have a number and it means nothing. It is a casting number or something like that.

........... Part numbers!! On and automobile part
But with a Duraspark vacuum chamber, if it's a single diaphragm, if it fits, it's the same. The only real difference might be the initial setting - and you can change that with an Allen wrench down the tubing hole.
Now with that said, I have in the past mixed and matched Ford distributor parts and they have always worked just fine regardless with the only difference being the early distributor wiring with a different colored ignition module grommet (but the vac chamber is still the same)Dave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

Does anyone know if a vacumn advance from a points distributor work on a duraspark as there are a couple in the catalog that specify it as being adjustable,I know all the big parts like blocks and heads have casting numbers but if they would take the time to stamp the small parts life would be so much easier.
