    fitting wide whites

    I have a 47 ford with a 79 camaro clip(I know, I know) anyways I also have a 93 firebird disk rear in it. Presently I have 17x8 and 225/45/17 and 17x9.5 with 275/40/17 in the rear. I just got 5 like new 3"wide whites from a friend without rims. I plan to put them on 15x 7 rims. he had them on 8" wide rims and I thought they were too wide for the tread width. my question is I don't want them to si too faar in the fenderwell. so can someone show me some examples of " reverse" rims? can I run the deeper reversed in the rear and the reg up front? I'm looking at buying either steelies or some smoothies. any pics or helpful comments are appreciated. here is a pic of the current set up, I need to correct my ride height and do the bodywork but hey it runs and drives thanks

    There's a good thread going on wheel and tire fitment, should give you the information you need for wheel sizing. Here's the link;

    It's very difficult to advise other rodders about wheel recommendations. Lot's of variables in the equation that we can't see from here. Rear end width, ride height, tire size, all have a bearing on allowable rim width and backspace. What size are your whitewall tires? The backspacing on the 15X7 wheel you want to use? The best solution is to do some measuring rather than relying on advise from folks who may not have seen your car up close and personal.

    I ran into a similar problem with my 29. I'm running 185/65 X 15" in front and 10.50 X 31 X 15 out back. I wanted the wheel to look the same as far as offset goes front to rear. I contacted The Weel Smith in Calif. and he made me a pair of 15 X 8 steel wheels with a 6 1/8 back spacing. He said that was the limit for a 8 inch wide wheel. they are perfect. My point is if you give them the backspace measurement they will build the wheel you need.
    Tomorrow is promised to no one.
