So are you saying that the kingpin bushings are loose in the axle bores? Unless I misunderstand, the axle is bored to fit the bushings, the bushings are pressed into the axle bores, and then the kingpin bushings are align bored with an adjustable reamer to fit the kingpin into the axle. What is loose?Roger

The bushings are pressed into the spindle portion, not the axle itself. the kingpin is a close, but not press, fit in the axle and secured in the axle by a cross bolt so the pin can't (not suppose to) move in the axle. however my axle hole is worn such that it does slop around quite a bit.

Sorry, I overlooked the obvious and your explanation is right on. I have heard of oversized kingpin kits for some vehicles, but I'm not aware where you might find them or if they are out there for a '36 axle.Roger

You can bore out the axle and put in a interference bushing.

Sorry for your loss of friend Mike McGee, Shine. Great trans men are few and far between, it seems. Sadly, Mike Frade was only 66 and had been talking about retirement for ten years that I know...
