Wiring Help Needed
OK I am at the point where I want to try and get this old motor to fire but I have no idea at all as to how to wire it.
It has a points distributor.
I have bought a ballist resistor and a Ford ignition solenord. Is there anything else I need for the start up.
It has new oil and filter, new plugs, new points and condensor along with new wires. Cap and rotor was in good shape so I reinstalled those parts.
Now I need someone to help me with the wiring because I am at a lost on this part.
This is a diagram of what I have and if someone would be kind enough to connect the dot so to speak and show me what wire goes where would be a greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Thanks Richard for your reply but for me that diagram is like placing the WallStreet Journal in front of a two year old. I have no idea what I am looking at.
I just need someone to show me on my diagram what wire connects to what. I know its alot to ask but its the only way I will understand what I am doing. Yes I am ignorent to wiring. I really do need help.
Thanks

There you go! Good Job! Only thing I will question is the wire you say is the stock ford resistor wire, is not! The resistor wire is normally on the other side of the coil! You need to knock down the volts for a points ignition. So the wire coming from the key switch (battery voltage to the coil) needs to be lowered. If you're running some sort of electronic ignition you may or probably not need a resistor. Hope that helps.

Thanks guys for the help here.
Yall please forgive me for asking so many questions on something that should be so simple. But I know nothing at all about wiring. The only wires I know about is the firing order on it. As far as making it run, nothing at all.
One question?? Why wouldnt the ballist resistor be used in the wiring being the distributor has points?
Its a 1964 bone Stock Chevy 230cid engine.
Thanks again,

Just a line to thank all of you who replied to my request on wiring.
I got the motor wired today following a diagram Louey had sent. The starter engages but my battery isnt strong enough to turn over the motor. Got it on charge as I type. But at least things are happening now.
Again thank you all.

If your wife has a friend that annoys you don't tell your wife to stop being friends with her. Just casually mention how pretty she is... .
