Frenched fuel inlet help
I would like to find info or a kit to help me french the fuel inlet on my 36 chevy sedan. See lots of stuff for headlights, tail light, and even a few articles on frenching the antenna but not finding much on the fuel inlet. Anybody have a source for parts or a how to on this subject?
Thanks

you can easily fab a frenched gas cap. get a piece to metal tubing like 3 in exhaust tubing and cut the hole in the area to mount it. tack weld it in to get it fitted then weld in permanent.

If you are talking about making a 'stock looking' filler neck then follow sunset's post. If you are talking about a custom arrangement with a door there is an aftermarket [can't remember who's] unit that is teardropped shaped and goes on the slope of the rear fender. On my 39 Chevy I used a 70's volkswagon Beetle gas door that has the filler neck built it. I left about 1-1/2" around the door and welded it into the side of the trunk.
If memory serves me correctly, the 36's gas filler is on the drivers side. Mine is on the passenger side and I'm using a Tanks poly gas tank.
Hope this helps.

You might also drop Dave Severson a line or a PM.
He does this kind of stuff all the time.
On my 70 ford pick up we just cut about a inch on each side away from the gas tank door and pulled out the whole pocket and all, along with the filler tube.
The filler tube was just behind the drivers door and the gas tank was behind the seat. After we installed a fuel injected motor the pump in the tank made to much noise in the cab so it had to be moved out of the cab. It's just like Chopper did with the VW gas door. Kurt

You're probably thinking about the Hagan fuel doors, here's a link.
