Interesting concept with the replaceable components being plastic. It's not an inexpensive gun - around $400 -and there have been some lead time issues since 3M relocated their manufacturing to Panama - I'd be curious as to what Hot Rod Paint or some of the real pros have to say..

"All 3M/Accuspray Customers please note: Last Fall, 3M announced that the Accuspray manufacturing facility in Ohio would be relocated to Panama in Central America. Down time for dealer orders was originally 1 month and normal order fulfillment would resume by September 2009. As of March 1st, 2010, we are still experiencing shortages and inability to get most equipment and parts. Parts and equipment will be sold and shipped promptly that's in our inventory. Parts and equipment advertised on our site that must be ordered from the factory may take an indefinite time at this point and we cannot be responsible for any delays. "

If you plan on buying one, I'd get it local as an online of mail order may take some time.

    Regards,
    Glenn

I have not used one , but have 2 AccuSprays from Before 3M bought them and are damn good guns ( 1 is a 2.0 primer gun and the other is an Issac )
3m designed their own guns several years back and painters didnt seem to take to them , so they bought Accuspray and quit producing their guns .
I have been using 3M PPS cup system since they came out many years ago and have had no problems , so this may be a decent concept ..... till you drop the gun and bend the crap out of the needle ......

400 bucks seems WAY to steep for a gun you can not use unless you buy their plastic disposable tips/pps cup holder adapter , I'll pass on this idea !

I have never bought an expensive primer gun as they seem to get beat up the worst as some of this 2K primer is a bitch to clean .
I can see this 3M gun being a nice item for a big production shop , but for a do-it-yourselfer its a bit on the extreme in my opinion .
I have always said buy the best PAINT gun your money can buy for shooting color and clear , but for blowing primer a decent HVLP cheapie will suffice , hell you sand the shit flat anyway ...... LOL

    Spraytech;
I don't know if I can afford the best but I would like a decent gun anyway.
I have never shot bass coat clear coat before but I have aleast two of my own cars lined up to get shot. I have two cheap guns that I bought and a decent touch up gun my brother in law donated to me. What would be a decent gun that will work with the bass coat clear coat? I am only gonna shot a couple of my own cars though I would like it to turn out well, if you know what I mean. Oh and do you normally get differant needles with the more expensive guns? Kurt

I shoot nothing but Iwatas for the past 5 years and they are IMO the best on the market !!! but they are rather pricey !
I dont know of any gun that comes with several needles for spraying , but if you can find an Accuspray Issac 07 gun in a 1.5 needle with a 705 air cap this gun will shoot base coat & Clear coat very nice ! I have had this gun for 18 years and all my helpers seem to gravitate to it because its an easy gun to set up and control .
I just went to spraygun Depot web site and they have them , but since 3m bought them the guns have doubled you could pick one up for around 250 bucks now they want $445

I have never used one but you could try an Air Gunsa AZ3-HV Spray Gun from Iwata , dont know the price of one but you can go here and check .

The 250 bucks would have been nice. But I'll have to look for that needle size and air cap. I was not sure about the sizes. Back 20 some years ago when I painted a car of mine, I was working at RK holdens a ambulance shop in michigan.
I would just go over to our body guy and he would hand me stuff and say use this or that and do this or that and it worked out good for me. He really knew his stuff and was a good guy and helped out if you needed something.
I liked working there but the pay was a little low for a family man back then so I moved on along with the head mech, Jim. How much air should I use with that, 28 pds. for base and 35 pds. for the clear? Anyway thanks for the tips.

You know I have not used that Accuspray for 5 years , I have forgotten what air pressure I was using shooting DBU & Global Clear , But those PSI's are a good starting point .

These Iwatas ( LVLP LPH 400 1.4 ) only use 16 PSi for color and 16-20 PSI for clear I have a Silver capped one for dedicated clear gun , the Orange cap Extreme for color and the Purple capped one for the hard pearls and metallics .
then I also have a W400 1.4 for sealers ,primer and clear .
