Spare Tire Mount '34 Ford Model 40 Tudor

trying to figure out how (where) to mount a spare tire on my 34 Tudor.

    Suggestions?

One idea was to mount a trailer hitch underneath, but my fuel tank is close to the apron, and then attach one of those "hitch mount trailer platforms" that I've seen on SUV's for occasional use... but, the question there is HOW to connect the trailer hitch!

Do you still have the rear frame horns on the frame? If so, mount the original style spreader bar to the horns. That bar should have the support bracket to mount a stock spare tire tower.

I have the rear frame horns, but I do not see where the rear spreader bar has the support bracket. Is that a separate piece?

    Hi bt,

The spreader I have has the support bracket welded on, some people cut them off. I can send a pic if you want. The spear tire tower would mount where your license plate is now so that would have to move.

No space under the rear seat, have a 50/50 bench bolted to floor, but do have some space behind the seat for a suitcase... who sells a 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern donut? Thanks...

Your local salvage yard (LQK or CoPart, etc) has them, I've seen them as low as $10-15.

    Pic of the spreader bar

    btsave,

Here's the pic. The mount for the spare tire tower is hidden under the apron and the tower bolts through the apron to the mount. Should have taken a pic of the tower too but can supply that later if needed.

    Jack.

    Ooops, forgot the pic.
