    surgery to a steering colomne

Has any of you fellers ever tore into a flaming river steering column before.
I just picked one up for a good price. But now I know why, It has some internal
issues that need to be looked at. It looks like just a roll pin at the bottom. Holding the bottom plastic bushing in. Then the rest comes out the top. The only thing I'm a little concerned about is the tilt spring and mechanism inside.

If it's built anything like the IDIDIT, your best bet is to return to FR for repairs. How It's Made TV show had a segment on the IDIDIT - couple of special tools are needed to get at the tilt mechanism to disassemble and reassemble.

I missed the original showing, I keep checking the TV listing to try to catch the rerun but so far, haven't had any luck.

Ididit told me they would take a look at it. Flaming River on the other hand well.
I think it's an Ididit column anyway. So FR wouldn't know how to take it apart
anyway...he he he. Just Kidding boys don't get your pants in a wad.
    All the best

WOW I had the service manager of Ididit (Marty) contact me about my column. He
suggested I send it back and let them look at it and check it out. Well in a few short days
I had a brand new column show up in the mail. What a class act this place is. I wanted to
post it here to let you guys know. These guys are the best. What a GREAT company to deal with. If you go with them you won't be sorry.

Sounds like great customer service - when I bought mine, I was impressed the them and their knowledge(the owner sold mine to me at an NSRA car show). My only complaint - they are tough to paint but that isn't their problem
