speaking of welding safty===remember that a few months ago there was a thread about welding something after cleaning it with some brake cleaner--some nasty stuff kinda like nerve gas--I'll try to look up the substance but there is a statement on the cans about it containing it

As Richard stated-cinder blocks are a really bad idea.I welded in a 1975 Monza town coup a Don Hardy frame kit.I progressively lifted the car by putting the floor jack on a set of cross flat stacked cinder blocks and then cross flat stacked cinder blocks under the car.We didn't have a two or four post lift to work on.At one point the car slipped and came down with the wind of that just coming pass my head.Well once we where done welding the frame,I started to lower the car back down on the ground.Yepper-one of the blocks fell apart in two pcs that must have been broken all the while we where under the car welding.
Well at that time I was younger and indestructible.Good Bye

I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
