Best place for butchers paper
Where is the bes place to buy butchers paper to
paint old school flames with.
I am getting ready to start tapeing off the flames
and need it to stencil the other side to make the
truck even looking on both side.
Any other tips before I get started would help.
Thanks Kurt

Always got mine from the butcher at the grocery store. Everything's for sale if you talk nice. If you talk real nice, sometimes things are free, particularly if you shop there regularly and he knows you.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

I don't know about that down here in Florida, these stores are pretty cheap.
I just don't want to have to buy some giant roll of the stuff when I only need a couple of feet. I am only doing the hood and the front fenders, I am not planning on going any further back then that. I just need enough to transfer it over to the other side.

Did you try an art supply store? Sold by the foot, most any width you need.

Kurt, I just watched an episode of Overhaulin' where Chip was doing flames on a car. He did the paper routine with a pounce wheel to put little perforations in the paper, then he put blue chalk dust all over it to bleed through and duplicate the same flames on the other side of the car. Is that what you are planning?

Hey Don; Ya that is the general idea, though this is a first for me.
I'll have to use a differant color chalk since the truck is blue and it may not show up as well. I have been praticing on a old hood I have and I got a book by Bruce Caldwell on how to do flames which has got all the good details.
Watching the you tube video's on it to, and there are a lot of them.
I don't care for the realistic looking Flames so it will be the old school style Flames.

Home Depot and Lowe's have rolls of the stuff in the $2 to $4 range and found in the paint section. It's in 9" and, I believe 24" widths. Also, as Richard said, be nice to the butcher. I got some that way, but it was lightly waxed and no good to use for car painting. DratDave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

When I did mine I used vellum paper. It`s used in drafting and you can see through it(tracing paper?). You mark out the flames you want on one side of car, when your satisfied with the look you want, you lay the paper over them and trace the outline with a "grease pencil". Flip the paper over on the otherside of the car, tape it down and rub the backside of the lines wth some thing hard and smooth (coin).the lines will transfer to the car.Just tape it out and paint.

Found a good size roll of butchers paper at Harbor Frieght for about $5 bucks.
And Sams Club had a Giant roll of it for about $18 bucks.
So thats not to bad, either roll is a good deal.
The paint shop wanted $35 for a roll half he size as the one I got at Harbor Frieght. So atleast I know where I'll be buying my butcher papaer at when I need some. Kurt
Thank you Roger. .
