    power steering pump hoses

i have to remove my power steering pump from the monte because it does not fit my caddy block. the problem is i think that the pump is the original and will not come off. can not get the pulley off so i can change brackets. all of the nuts are starting to round off. can i cut the hoses and repair then using a piece of steel connected by 2 hose clamps.

You can splice the return hose but the other is high presure. They make a puller for the pump pully. Even with the puller they are a pain. I had to weld nuts to one a guy rounded off trying to take pump off with out removing pully.

Barb................they have wrenches that are meant just for rounded head bolts. I have a set from Craftsmen. They look like a regular wrench but they have teeth that will grip a rounded head. Check out Craftsmens website ot go down to your local Sears. You can probably buy just the one size you need.

and not to mention something obvious..... but make sure you are using 6point wrenches on 6 point bolts, 12point on 12point.

Barb - do you need some new tools? Or are you trying to use SAE instead of metric(or vice versa)?
