    46 ford 41 front end

Does anyone know if a 41 ford front end will bolt right on a 46 ford? are there any hard modifications if it want bolt right on? thanks for your advise

For sure the outside width is much greater on the 42-48 fenders but the key question is whether the cowl mounting holes are wider. I do not know the measurement in inches, but having been upside down under a '47 dash many times and admiring '41s leads me to say that the '41 cowl is not as wide as the '46. What this means is that you may have to cut the '46 front end in the middle and take some width out of it. So my answer is not really much help. I am sure the overall width of the '46 is greater than the '41 but maybe the clip will fit to the cowl holes. Sorry, I wish i had a 42-48 to work on again so i am just chatting here.

Like Don, I'm not 100% sure, but I also think the 41 is narrower. I hope someone has more definitive info for you though.

yea, I think '41-'42 Fords are unique in that way.. I know the chassis is the same '41-'48, but I'm pretty sure the bodies are much diffrent

the 41 front end is awesome. I saw a convertible on ebay thats a 46 with a 41 front end and it looked good. I was looking to see if it was ok for me to post an outside link but i dont see any information on it. So if its a no go Mods please take it down..

The running board area is diff where meets the fenders. 41 front axles are narrower
also. My Dad put a 42 front on a 41 yrs ago. He made it work.

i have decided to just keep what i have. I like the 41 front end but you know i have never seen to many 46 ford coupes. I know there are probably a bunch out there but I like keeping the car looking somewhat like it is. If it wasnt just a shell with chassis and had everything original on it i would not take and rod it out. but since its stripped i am going to build it with the Hot Rod intention. The body is just to dent free and straight to let it go to waste. Thanks for all the replys !

Good choice. I like the 46-48 cars too and have a 46 tudor sitting that I plan on starting on as soon as I get my 27 out of the way. Nice thing is that a lot of the parts are available in the aftermarket (Bob Drake and others).
