    30/31 w/s post

I have acquired a 31 model a roadster, it has no w/s post. while looking thru mags, I have decided I want the w/s raked back. I understand it is about 17 degrees. Where would I find these post? thanks, jim.

One suggestion - if this is a new build make sure that the car is a good fit for you as the interior is about 4 inches less front to rear then a '32 and you do run out of room real quick (now, how do I know that). Also, even with the Deluxe posts, some low profile bomber style seats, I'm still a bit higher then I would like and will still need to make different risers

You can get the painted version of those stanchions(standard, not the deluxe), do your mods to them then send 'em out for chroming.

Do you not want the adjustable stanchions for some reason? My '30 has them and I change the rake to suit my mood. If you go the solid route, as Dave mentioned, you just have to pie cut them. I think they're available in aluminum also which can be polished rather than plated once the weling and grinding are done.

I don't have a good picture of just the windshield, but this should give you a rough idea.

Ya tryin to acheive this look only on an A Bone???
    I'm 6' 3" and it works 4 me.
The real trick, even on an A-Bone is how ya build the seat.

Hey Don, what is the angle on those Wanless/Rodwell windshields? Looks like 35-40 degrees to my eye.

I think the important thing for folks to learn from your seat picture is the thigh bolster.....really helps for longer trips in the saddle.

Good eye Bob, 37 1/2 degree
Like I said for the seat, butt down lo, and a big kick to keep yer thigh up.
I build 'em to drive 'em not to look at?
Mt ole line is "DTPOOI" (drive the p*ss outta it)
Can drive mine for around 250 miles , then gotta get out anyway to fill it up.
Top it off, stretch out a little and get after it sumore

34 that is pretty much what I am trying to achieve. don't know if 37 is too much for me. I want a short w/s and a smooth top, with no kick in the rear.

FYI I just wrapped this up, Hallock to fit the 30-31, if you like the V window. Look for tech and adds in the upcoming Street Rodder

Also where you run into a problem with an 'A' is with engine setback. Mine ended up at least an inch too far and probably closer to two - a TCI assembly screw up as well as mine for not figuring it out - but the chassis was originally done for a Fordor so it didn't matter. When I got that offer I couldn't refuse for the slant windshield body and ordered the Brookville, it was too late for changes without a lot of time and money. This meant my Brookville firewall needed another couple of inches more recess to 5.5" - which in turn killed my foot box in a roadster.

    .....now, speaking about engine setback

Now, as far as leaning the windshield stanchions/posts!! If you are using repros, there is a stop that prevents you from leaning that assembly, so this means that you can have them straight up or tilted forward.

I have never seen aluminum uppers - carbon steel, stainless (like mine) or brass from Brookville which can be real crap. My originals were the one piece brass. For $450 they arrived unchromed, drilled incorrectly and ground to almost paper thickness at the body brackets. They were returned for the SS version that I now have

I have guys send me there stock post, or repo stainless post and I degree them to there liking. Time and labor. In the pics are for a 28-29 Roadster. If you want the adjustable, its the matter of moving the stop.
