    Working under my car

I am at the point where I need to crawl around under my truck and work on stuff. Verify all is doing well, nothing coming loose, change oil and filter. In short I need better access to the underneath of the truck. I have a std. double car garage (8'ceiling) and the truck is all that is taking up both spaces. I cannot get a floor jack under the front. I can crawl in from the back but that is a pain. Does anyone offer a good safe way to get a foot or two of lift?

I was going to build a ramp but then a dealer nearby decided he didn't want his display setup. I bought it for less than the steel new was worth and cut the legs shorter so I could still get my car up on it. Here's a lousy picture of it. It's 30 " at the highest point, Works out real nice!

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

If your car is too low to get a jack under, you can build two low ramps to drive up onto (maybe a few inches high) then slide the jack under. I've even done this with a couple of pieces of wood. My Son Dons Vette is like that and you have to get it up a little, then you can get a jack under there.

I know what your talking about. I was checking evry time I came back from a run. Jack it uo both ends and crawl under checking all out. Finally got most bugs out so not as often.
I like those ramps ,if u got the space.
I use a low prfile jack. Like 2 1/2 ". Good for vetts.
Its just a pain doing it.

I think (IToldYouSo) may have steered me in the right thought process. 3/2x12's staggered lengths with a stop about 6" from the end and spray undercoating on the bottom. I tried driving up on a board before and could not get it to hold still.

Check out this website.........Raceramps.com...........I saw them at PRI last year and bought a set of their ramps. They work great and they have many different types to choose.

    That will work!

Those look great! So many to choose from. I will have to study the selection so I get the most bang for the $!
