Relay Location
Where is the best place to locate relays? Is it better to place a relay close to the main power source, ie, the battery, or would it be better to place it close to the component being operated by the relay?
I need to fit relays for the Headlight circuits and one to the fuel pump.

Six of one, half dozen of another..........doesn't matter. I like to group all the relays in one convenient spot for future servicing and where they will be dry. Just had to replace two relays on my Honda daily because we had a few days of torrential rain and when I went through some two foot water areas the ac quit. When I opened up the relays they were rusted inside.

Keep your fuse panel and relay's convienantly located together so it is easy to do trouble shooting just like already mentioned.

Relay Location.
Thanks for that info. Seems pretty conclusive.
Now I'll try to put a pic of my Chevy on the site. I spent hours last night trying to do it, but it wouldn't download the picture. Maybe tonight I'll be luckier!ChevPete
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
