    High output Gm Alternater

I have a question. If I have a Alternater that puts out 85Amps at idle and 110 at higher RPMs, If the battery is fully charged and the Alternater is putting out 85 amps, will it danage the battery ? or will the alternater stop putting out the amps if there not needed.
