We get most of our components from Faria for our instruments and we have not had any issues, so I'd have to say the core parts are pretty darn good.
99% of the electronic speedo issues are sender related. Bad connectsion, incorrectly wired, missing drive gear. The best way to troubleshoot the speedo sender is to hook up a multi-meter to the sender output, spin the tires and see if you get an on-off signal or a +/- signal pulsing as you turn the wheels. From there its easy to figure out if this the sender or speedo.
