    Mustang II Front Shock Question

I've got a 30 Model A with a Street Rod with a stock Mustang II front suspension, 350 sbc, TH350, etc. In other words the usual stuff. The car was a project when purchased and the previous owner had already welded in the front end and used the stock arms so I left it that way. I cut the front springs to lower it a little when I started on the car but after a few years I decided to lower it a little more. I have the stance I want but now the shocks don't have enough travel. They bottom out. I know the Mustang II shocks don't have that much travel to begin with, maybe 3" at best. Does anybody make a shock that's a little bit shorter? How have some of you solved this problem? I didn't really want to have to buy new arms although some tubular ones would be nice. I just don't want the shocks to bottom out. Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure u can get short shocks as I remember. Just can't recall by whom.
I have the same setup on my 31 chevy. I also cut the coils 1,1/2. However I have learned that the lowest u should go is so that the lower a arms are level with the xmember. That would be stock. I am now 1" lower than that and have stock shocks on anfd no problems. I plan on getting new shocks and then 2' dropped spindels. That would put the geometry back and should keep me as low as it is now. So, a lot of bother and expense for the same look. But peace of mind and maybe a better ride.
Are u using the strut rods.

Go to a real parts store, where they still have books and parts people, he will have a book with shocks listed by length and by the type of end they have...

Contact QA 1 for a catologue--full of info as to shock/spring specs and effects of geometry, etc along with recommended specs for every application

Also---Height's catologue has lots of info about the Pinto/M2 front end geometry and effects of mounting
