Does anyone know just where and why this style came about? I have an idea, but just saying it could get edgy by some standards; sure don't want to "dis" anyone.

The only thing worse than the Donks is a good, trail capable Jeep tricked out Donk fashion with wagon wheel rims and rubber band tires. It's just wrong, kind of against the rules of nature
