Salamander wire diagram
Landlord for the new shop I rented is going to let me use his Sears model number 583356042 salamander 165000 btu salamander Remington heat if I could get it going again.Told me kind a vague description that it needs a switch, but when I opened it up,someone had cut all the wires inside of it.Looks like all the parts are there.I want to rewire it back to what it should be before I take it back to the shop I worked at 10 yrs ago repairing these kind of heaters. That would save on the costs of the repair.I looked on the net and couldn't find a wire diagram for this model heater.Coud you guys help out get a diagram for it??.
Please and Thank You In Advance.Good Bye

Gary,
My son did the same for me, getting an old Reddy Heater Pro155 that didn't work. I was able to find parts on line for it, even though the Reddy Heater company folded several years back. The problem with that Sears unit is they renumber everything and the only place you can get specific parts that match by number is from Sears Parts Direct. They do list a manual for your heater, but I can't guarantee it includes the schematic. Your heater was made by one of the other companies, like Reddy or Master, so a wiring diagram from one of those may work for yours, too, at least enough to sort through the way things link together. Here's the link:

I found the parts lists in the link you posted.Didn't really have a wire diagram. The wires I found where on all the loose components I found inside the unit and no leads to anywhere. Thanks guys for trying. When I used to work at the shop that I want to take the heater to,we got basket cases like this and all you can do for the customer is tell them it is by the hr charges because until you have it re-wired,you can't tell what part failed for the repair. It is kind of a pita.Worse part is if it is a lift pump, that could exceed the value of the heater. This one's three first numbers makes it a Remington/Desa brand name.Last edited by 1gary; 02-16-2011 at 08:25 AM.

Try <desatech.com> They were the manufacturer for Reddy and Remington heaters. They have some technical instructions with good pictures for failure analysis and repair.

At the Parts Direct link you can search for "manual" and it comes up for $4.14 - don't know if it has a wiring diagram or not, you might call the order line and ask. At times they have been very helpful, and at other times not so much...Roger

Want to thank everyone for their efforts.I did find the wire diagram I was looking for.I went to the shop and thought if the motor is bad, that might put the price of this heater out of reach. So I tested the motor and sure enough it needs to be replaced.I priced out that with so far the highest price being $200 and lowest $116.At this point the only thing I can think of is to take the motor to a place I have used for rebuilt starters and Alt's and try to get them to look at it for new brushes and maybe turn the armature.Yeah,I know,it's a long shot.Good Bye
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
